Fighting food insecurity on Indy's northeast side

Matt Landry, pastor of Castleton United Methodist Church, has been a dedicated Gleaners partner for years. He passionately runs the 75th & Shadeland CARE mobile pantry location during the summer months and has raised thousands of dollars to help fight hunger. Now is your chance to pitch in, too.

Matt will spend September, Hunger Action Month, playing catch with a different person each day. It's an effort to build relationships in the community and help feed neighbors facing hunger along the way.

Matt's Motivation:

"My favorite moment was when a young dad holding hands with his little girl, maybe age 3 or 4, asked what food we were offering. When I told him, his face lit up like he won the lottery and said, 'Thank you so much. That will help a lot.' Then as they walked away, the little girl looked back at me, smiled and waved. Every child deserves food for every meal and a roof over their head!"

Gleaners' Impact

Gleaners and Fresh Connect Central distributed more than 99 million meals in 2023 — 48 million of which went directly to Hoosiers in central and southeastern Indiana. Nearly 80% of the food distributed was fresh produce, whole grains, lean protein, and dairy.

It's not just about giving people food. We give neighbors access to nutritious meals and other resources that help keep more money in their pockets to provide for their families in other ways.
